Paspels School

26, September, 2009

Architect: Valerio Olgiati
Location: Paspels, Switzerland
Constructed: 1998

The school of Paspels is a dreigeschossiger concrete monolith, which is connected with the old school building complex by an underground course. The entrance is oriented to the village. The large windows are provided with a dark, broad bronze framework in each case and are partly let in into the raue view concrete front or them attach concisely. The spartanisch seeming corridor in the ground floor (ground, walls and covers are from concrete) serves as clothes, in the two upper floors is accommodated beside cross-shaped corridors the classrooms and Vorbereitungs-räume for the instructors.
The rooms lined with larch wood remind from the atmosphere of old Bündnerstuben, whereby a strip window, which takes an entire length, makes a far view possible in nature and the environment. The space feeling on the inside is determined by the difference to the square sketch, all corners deviates easily from the right angle.
